The 16-year-old girl is part of the U.S. State Department’s “Flex Program for Future Leaders,” which was established after the fall of the Soviet Union in order to improve relations and share culture. There are very high standards and a long vetting process for students to be accepted.
The girl is outgoing, funny, participates in the speech and debate team, and is trying softball for the first time. She also volunteers with the Key Club that provides various services in the community.
Local organizers say this is a great opportunity to get a small taste of serving as a host family and share your America. The program welcomes diverse and blended families to participate and can place students at Columbus East, Columbus North, Hauser and Decatur County Schools.
