Police dog sniffs out burglary suspect

James A. Carmer

COLUMBUS, Ind.–A canine officer with the Columbus Police Department helped apprehend a burglary suspect early Sunday morning. Lt. Matt Harris, CPD public information officer, says law enforcement responded to a burglary call on Lamplight Drive.

Officers began checking around the area of the residence for anyone acting suspiciously. A short time later, a Columbus police dog named Argo began tracking the suspect and stopped at a vacant trailer. Police say they found a man hiding underneath the trailer and he allegedly matched the description of the reported burglar.

The suspect was taken into custody and identified as James Carmer, 20, of Columbus. Carmer was transported to the Bartholomew County Jail on a preliminary charge of burglary.
