EDINBURGH, Ind.–A sheriff’s deputy pursued a vehicle through Edinburgh on Saturday moments after the call came it had been stolen from a Circle K gas station in Taylorsville. The Bartholomew Co. Sheriff’s Office says Christopher Branum, 33, of Edinburgh, sped past law enforcement on East Street, leading them on a brief pursuit before running his car off the road.
Officers say the suspect then exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Deputies observed Branum enter a house on West Park Street, where he was found and taken into custody.
Branum was transported to Bartholomew County Jail and charged with auto theft, receiving stolen auto parts, resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, reckless driving, operating without ever receiving a driver’s license, and a previous court order.
