INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.–The Indiana Department of Workforce Development released its April employment numbers. From March to April, the state’s unemployment rate remained the same, at 3.2 percent. The good news is that Indiana is still under the national average of 4.0 percent and has been for four consecutive years, except for one month in October 2014.
The Hoosier state’s labor force had a net increase of 11,655 over the previous month. The total number of Hoosiers who are working and those seeking employment, stands at 3.33 million. The state’s 64 percent labor force participation rate remains above the national rate of 62.8 percent.
In addition, Indiana’s initial unemployment insurance claims continue to be at historical lows.
