COLUMBUS, Ind.–Early yesterday morning, authorities at the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department say a deputy observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on southbound U.S. 31, near 550N, and pulled the vehicle over. After speaking with the driver, Ashley Shuffitt, 22, of Columbus, and her passenger, Levi Underwood, 25, of Columbus, the officer said the odor of marijuana was detected coming from inside the vehicle. Following a search, drugs and drug-related items were found in the vehicle. Shuffitt and Underwood were booked and taken to Bartholomew County Jail on possession charges. Shuffitt is also facing charges for driving while intoxicated and driving while suspended.
