COLUMBUS, Ind.–Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation is moving ahead with building new soccer fields at the Columbus AirPark campus. On Monday, the BCSC board approved a $5 million budget to go toward the facilities that are expected to be completed by August 2019. The two new fields would measure 240 feet by 360 feet, making them large enough to host regional and semi-state competitions.
A site has not yet been determined, but Columbus Municipal Airport director Brian Payne believes it will be close to the existing soccer fields near Poshard and Vickers Drives. Payne hopes that these developments will generate interest in retail establishments being developed in the area across from the Columbus Learning Center.
