BCSC board gets update on security, approves East renovation

COLUMBUS, Ind. – At the Monday evening meeting of the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation board, superintendent Dr. Jim Roberts presented an update on safety and security measures. He relayed that badges are now distributed throughout the system and that, upon completion of the hiring and training process, five school resource officers will be stationed at schools throughout the corporation.

During public comments following Dr. Roberts’ report, several parents and students expressed concerns about incidents of bullying at various schools. One parent said her child was afraid to go on the field trip her class had scheduled for the following day, due to the presence of a child who has repeatedly harassed and threatened her child.

The board assured those who spoke that it would see that proper corporation personnel investigated their accounts.

Also in the meeting, the board approved to begin taking bids for a $3 million renovation project for Robbins Auditorium at Columbus East High School with refurbishing expected to begin next summer.
