COLUMBUS, Ind.–Heritage Fund of Bartholomew County has awarded two Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation teachers for their outstanding work in the classroom. The William and Sally Hanley Award for Excellence in Teaching was handed out Monday night at the BCSC board meeting. There were two recipients of the honor and they were Kim Bockover, of Schmitt Elementary School, and Chasidy Aldrich, of Columbus Signature Academy-Lincoln Campus. Each educator was nominated by the principal at her school for the recognition of outstanding elementary instructor.
Amy Laker, Scholarship/Communications Manager of the Heritage Fund, explained that the Hanley family moved to Columbus and became impressed with the local school system as their children attended the Bartholomew County School Corporation. As a way of giving back to the community and honoring local instructors, the Hanleys established the excellence in teaching award.
Bockover and Aldrich were each presented with a $1,000 check for their accomplishments.
