City of Columbus moves forward on several projects


COLUMBUS, Ind.–The Columbus Board of Works and Public Safety on Tuesday made progress on many projects around the city. Here is a list of the action taken at the meeting:

• Robertson Paving of Flat Rock won a bid to demolish homes at 824 8th St., 1313 9th St., and 834 Werner Ave., for a combined total of $30,400.

• Columbus Police Department submitted a bid from Axon Enterprise of Scottsdale, AZ, for body-worn cameras and in-car cameras. For the first year of the contract, Axon quoted $91,999.60 for body cameras and $71,999.96 for in-car cameras.

• The Department of Public Works opened bidding for the project of widening the intersection of Middle Road and Cessna Drive, near Columbus Municipal Airport. Case Construction submitted the low bid of $40,971.00. The board will review all quotes at next week’s meeting.

• Code Enforcement Coordinator Fred Barnett reported the Inoperable Vehicle Abatement Program has removed a total of 81 junk vehicles from Columbus streets since October of this year.
