COLUMBUS, Ind. — At last night’s meeting, the Columbus City Council passed a motion to establish a non-reverting fund for the State Road 46 railroad overpass project. Jamie Brinegar, director of finance, operations, and risk for the city of Columbus, says if there is money leftover at the end of the project, the funds will be redistributed to those who put money in at the same percentage rate that they donated to the plan. The Indiana Department of Transportation will cover half of the project, which is estimated at $30 million. The city of Columbus will take on the other half with help from the county and Cummins, which will now begin following the council’s action on Tuesday.
