City utilities 2018 budget gets council approval

COLUMBUS, Ind.–The 2018 operating budget for Columbus City Utilities was approved at Tuesday night’s Columbus City Council meeting. Director Keith Reeves says that the biggest projects this budget will fund are replacing the sewage pumping station at 17th Street and Haw Creek Avenue, and hiring two additional employees to keep up with the lead line service program. Rates are expected to remain constant for 2018, however Reeves forecasts that monthly payments by consumers will need to be raised shortly afterward due to major capital programs on the horizon.
