COLUMBUS, Ind. – Columbus City Utilities director Scott Dompke told the Utility Service Board at its Thursday meeting that one of the billing systems vendors the organization uses has incurred a recent problem, resulting in approximately 500 customers not receiving electronic statements in June and July.
Collections mostly stayed current, however, largely owing to arrangements whereby customers’ payments are automatically withdrawn from their bank accounts. No one has been penalized for non-payment if they did not receive a statement, and the board has resolved to ensure that such would be the case going forward.
Dompke said that the organization is communicating with the vendor in pursuit of a solution.
