COLUMBUS, Ind.–Yesterday, three new firefighters were added to the Columbus Fire Department. Chris Baker (left), Monty Ball (center), and Ryan Hirtzel (right) were all sworn in by Mayor Lienhoop at the Board of Public Works and Safety meeting at city hall. This brings the fire department staff up to full capacity, according to spokesman Captain Mike Wilson. After the swearing-in, the new hires undergo a department orientation and training program before receiving their shift and station assignments.
