Columbus man escapes courthouse during sentencing

YARYAN BENJAMIN ROSS

COLUMBUS, Ind.A Bartholomew County man, being sentenced for a probation violation, fled the Bartholomew County Courthouse on Monday afternoon. The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office says Benjamin Yaryan, 28, of Columbus, temporarily escaped and got as far as the library on Franklin Street before he was caught and taken to jail. Yaryan allegedly told deputies that he ran from the courthouse to avoid the six-month sentence for violating his probation that he had just received.
