UPDATED: Columbus soldier dies in Afghanistan

COLUMBUS, Ind. — A Columbus native was killed in action in Afghanistan on Wednesday. U.S. Army Sgt. Jonathan Hunter was killed in a suicide bombing attack on a NATO convoy. The Pentagon said the attack happened in the southern province of Kandahar. Hunter, 23, was the son of Mark Hunter and Kimberly and Brian Thompson and was a 2011 Columbus East graduate. Two soldiers died in the attack Wednesday.
