COLUMBUS, Ind.–A Bartholomew County woman did not make it far after allegedly shoplifting from a Columbus department store early Friday morning. Lt. Matt Harris, public information with the Columbus Police Department, says Amanda Redford, 31, of Columbus, refused to stop after Walmart security officers confronted her about the unpurchased items in her possession as she was leaving the store.

The suspect fled to the parking lot where she was detained a short time later. As she was being arrested, CPD officers say they found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in her purse. Redford was taken to Bartholomew County Jail and charged with theft, resisting law enforcement, and possession of both methamphetamine and paraphernalia.
