BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind.–The Bartholomew County Commissioners heard bids at their Monday meeting from three separate contractors who are vying for a deal to upgrade the security systems of the county jail. The lowest bid came from Stanley Convergent Security Solutions, Inc., of Fishers, which submitted a base bid of $1,379,375. All three bids received were met with a bit of sticker shock by the commissioners, who had hoped to field much lower offers.
The enhancements to the facility will be made to all parts of the complex, including the old part of the jail. The commissioners consider this to be one of the major steps toward re-opening that section of the detention center, so that law enforcement may house an in-jail drug treatment program for inmates.
