CPD promotes two veteran officers


COLUMBUS, Ind.–Two veterans with the Columbus Police Department are taking on new leadership roles. Both Mike Richardson and Steve Norman have been on the force 23 years. Following Deputy Chief Todd Harry’s retirement, Richardson will become the new Deputy Chief and Norman will be promoted to Uniform Captain.

Richardson previously served as a Uniform Captain and has been responsible for the department’s Uniform Division for the past six years. During Richardson’s tenure with the Columbus Police Department, he has served as a Patrol Officer and Uniform Sergeant, as well as a Uniform Lieutenant.

Prior to this promotion, Norman was one of five Lieutenants on the department and oversaw day-shift patrol operations. During his 23 years on the force, Norman has also served as a Patrol Officer, Uniform Sergeant, Narcotics Detective and Public Information Officer, in addition to being the Uniform Captain under a prior administration.
