COLUMBUS, Ind. — Residents of a Quail Run Apartment building were evacuated following a gas leak Tuesday afternoon.
Firefighters arrived around 2:30 p.m. and identified the gas leak.
Vectren Energy officials began the evacuation effort, and firefighters made sure all units were vacated.
Investigators say someone was trying to place a satellite TV post in the ground when the metal post struck a natural gas line. The leak was stopped, and residents were able to return to their apartments around 3:10 p.m.
