Greenwood woman arrested for speeding, pot

COLUMBUS, Ind.–A Johnson County woman was arrested for drug possession after a traffic stop late Tuesday evening, near U.S. 31 and Commerce Drive in Columbus. The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office says that Brittany Ward, 24, of Greenwood, was originally pulled over for speeding and for having a broken headlight.

When she opened her glove box to retrieve her vehicle registration, the deputy said he noticed a marijuana pipe in the compartment. Canine officer “Bolt” was deployed to search the car and the police dog alerted law enforcement to a positive hit. Two baggies of what was suspected to be marijuana were allegedly discovered inside the vehicle by authorities.

Ward was taken to Bartholomew County Jail and charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. She has since been released from custody.
