Indiana Arts Commission awards $2M to local arts

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.–At its quarterly business meeting, the Indiana Arts Commission last month awarded $2 million for the 2019 fiscal year to local arts organizations across the state. The funding comes from the commission’s Arts Organization Support, Arts Project Support, Regional Arts Partner Block Grants, Regional Arts Partner, and Project Support grant programs.

Local organizations that received grants included:

BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY

  • Columbus Area Arts Council–$12,641
  • Columbus City Band–$5,000
  • Columbus Pro Musica (Columbus Indiana Philharmonic)–$13,959
  • Columbus Scottish Festival–$5,000
  • Columbus Symphony Orchestra–$6,383
  • Dancers Studio, Inc.–$8,406
  • Ethnic Expo–$5,000
  • Ivy Tech Community College of Columbus–$5,000

BROWN COUNTY

  • Brown County Art Guild, Inc.–$7,779
  • Brown County Playhouse Management, Inc.–$9,724

JACKSON COUNTY

  • Actors Community Theatre of Seymour, Inc.–$5,000
  • Jackson County Community Theatre–$5,000
  • Jackson County History Center–$5,000
  • Southern Indiana Center for the Arts–$7,356

JENNINGS COUNTY

  • Our Heritage, Inc.–$5,000

JOHNSON COUNTY

  • Johnson County Community Foundation–$4,095
