SEYMOUR, Ind.–The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) says State Road 258, near downtown Seymour, is scheduled to close for a 24-hour period starting this evening, October 9, through tomorrow evening, October 10, to facilitate railroad crossing rehabilitation and track realignment operations.
Louisville & Indiana Railroad crews plan to begin repairs at 6 p.m. today, weather permitting. INDOT officials say S.R. 258 (6th Street) should reopen to traffic by 6 p.m. on Wednesday. A state highway detour will route motorists around the S.R. 258 closure via State Road 11, U.S. Highway 50, and State Road 135.
When work is completed, drivers should notice improved smoothness while crossing the tracks, especially on the east side of S.R. 258.
