NORTH VERNON, Ind.–The Indiana Department of Transportation recently reviewed plans for construction work for two bridges on State Road 9, in the Hope area. The renovation will begin in early April.
Harry Maginity, Media Relations Director for INDOT in Southeast Indiana, says the bridges over Little Haw Creek (5.7 miles north of State Road 46) and Clifty Creek (0.5 miles north of State Road 46) will have temporary signals in place that will allow only one direction of traffic at a time until improvements are completed.
The Little Haw Creek bridge will receive a new, two-inch latex modified deck overlay, specified repairs and new road approaches. At Clifty Creek, the bridge will be widened and repaired before crews remove and replace the bridge deck and bridge rail. That contract also calls for substructure repairs and new approach slabs.
R.A. Myers Construction from Muncie is the contractor on both projects.
