GREENWOOD, Ind.—Central Nine Career Center in Greenwood will host the Johnson County Local Food Summit on Tuesday, October 24, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Before dining on a locally sourced lunch prepared by Central Nine’s culinary students, attendees will hear from a panel of speakers, including a school food service director, a local farmer, family physician, chef/restaurant CEO, and a food distributor. The afternoon will provide an opportunity to break into groups based on a variety of food system topic areas.
This event will provide networking and sharing opportunities for the people, communities, and organizations working to create a local food system that is resilient, economically vibrant, and diverse. The goal is that everyone attending the food summit will learn something new and make more network connections. Creating a more vibrant food system in the community can increase the quality of life for all residents, making healthy food and food access all part of the equation.
