Johnson County woman loses money in phone scam

JOHNSON COUNTY, Ind. – A Johnson County woman was scammed out of $4,000 this week. According to a press release from Johnson County Sheriff Doug Cox, the woman said she received a phone call from a woman who said she was her granddaughter. The woman told her she had been in an accident and needed money. The victim was then instructed to buy five $800 gift cards from Best Buy. If you receive a call that seems suspicious in any way, please contact your local authorities immediately.
