COLUMBUS, Ind.–Landmark Columbus this week announced that it will be expanding its reach into Marion County. The Columbus architectural preservation organization behind “Exhibit Columbus” is partnering with the Central Indiana Community Foundation and the Ambrose Property Group to embark upon a design competition for the new Waterside development in Indianapolis. The Lilly Endowment recently awarded $300,000 to the project to fund the competition.
According to the Waterside website, the plan is to create a thriving, new, downtown Indianapolis district on a 103-acre lot previously occupied by the General Motors Stamping Plant. The small neighborhood will include office, commercial and retail space, residential units, a hotel, community green space, and public recreational opportunities along the water.
