Louisville woman rescued from Lutheran Lake

BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind.–The Indiana Department of Natural Resources and Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call of a near-drowning at Lutheran Lake on Friday afternoon. Lt. Angela Goldman, public information officer with DNR, says that Barbara Haller, 69, of Louisville, was swimming at the beach of Lutheran Lake when she slipped off of her inflatable raft and went underneath the surface of the water.

Her husband and a boater were both nearby and pulled her to shore, where she had shallow breathing and was unresponsive. Emergency services were contacted at approximately 3:40 p.m., with South West Volunteer Fire Department being the first to arrive to administer first aid. Haller was then transported by Columbus Regional EMS and Stat Flighted to St. Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis. She was breathing but unresponsive during transport.

As of 8:30 p.m., Haller was stable, but still in critical condition.
