Man leads police on two-county chase

GREENWOOD, Ind.–A Morgan County man was arrested after being pursued through two counties by law enforcement on Sunday evening. The New Whiteland Police Department says that Joshua Jones, 28, of Morgantown, committed a traffic violation before he led officers on the chase.

Police followed Jones onto southbound Interstate 65, where stop sticks were placed in the roadway to attempt to halt him. Instead, the sticks disabled police cruisers while Jones drove through the median to avoid them, and the pursuit continued.

Johnson County Sheriff’s deputies picked up the chase and followed Jones as he drove into a field in Shelby County. The suspect abandoned the vehicle and fled briefly on foot before he was apprehended by a K-9 officer.

The sheriff’s office handed him over to New Whiteland police, who charged Jones with reckless driving, aggressive driving, resisting law enforcement, and possession of drug paraphernalia, along with multiple Johnson County warrants.
