Man gets 47 years for Greensburg murder

GREENSBURG, Ind.–A Decatur County man has been sentenced for a 2016 fatal shooting in Greensburg. WRBI in Batesville reports that Jason Eaton will serve 47 years for shooting and killing Wendy Sabatini after she rejected his marriage proposal.

Eaton entered into a plea agreement with the state for the 47 years, with two years of the sentence suspended to supervised probation. Indiana law dictates that offenders convicted of murder serve 75% of their sentence with good behavior in prison. The plea agreement also stipulates that the defendant can have no contact with the victim’s family for the duration of his sentence.
