COLUMBUS, Ind.–An auto theft suspect crashed a stolen car into a home on Tuesday afternoon. Lt. Matt Harris with the Columbus Police Department says that Cameron Sampson, 26, of Columbus, was traveling at a high rate of speed on Hinman Street when officers tried to apprehend him.
Harris says that Sampson, while trying to flee, almost struck a CPD cruiser. After temporarily evading law enforcement, he wrecked the vehicle into a nearby residence. Police say he then exited the car and ran, but was caught a short time later.
Sampson was arrested, taken to Bartholomew County Jail, and charged with auto theft, leaving the scene of an accident, resisting law enforcement, and a previous Bartholomew County warrant.
