Man’s failed memory leads to new arrest charge

GREENWOOD, Ind.–A Greenwood man’s error in judgment led to his arrest early Saturday morning when he apparently lied to a sheriff’s deputy. The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office says Christopher Felder, 43, was stopped while he was walking home from his girlfriend’s house on State Road 135, in Bargersville.

During questioning, the deputy said he asked the suspect to identify himself. Felder, who was under the impression he had outstanding warrants in Marion and Hamilton Counties, allegedly gave the officer his brother’s name instead of his own. The deputy later checked with Johnson County dispatch and confirmed there were no warrants for Christopher Felder. So, had the suspect given his correct name, he would have been free to continue his walk.

Once the man’s true identity was determined, Felder was arrested on the new charge of false informing.
