Mayor Lienhoop, officials talk 2019 plans

COLUMBUS, Ind. – The December meeting of the Ninth Street Neighborhood Watch, held Wednesday evening in the Bartholomew County Public Library’s Red Room, featured presentations by Columbus police chief Jon Rohde, fire chief Mike Compton, code enforcement coordinator Fred Barnett, city programs coordinator Robin Hilber, and Mayor Jim Lienhoop. Each discussed programs and plans for increasing the quality of life in the community.

Watch founder Chris Rutan, who moved into the Ninth Street Park neighborhood in 2009, says that despite its name, the scope of his group’s activities has expanded to include all of Bartholomew County. Over the years, he has fostered contacts with a number of local government officials and has established what is basically a network of resources for a variety of situations.

The group’s Facebook page serves as a clearinghouse of information.
