Motorcyclist seriously injured after rear-ending SUV

GREENWOOD, Ind.—A Johnson County motorcyclist was seriously hurt in a two-vehicle accident Friday afternoon on State Road 37. The driver of a SUV told the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office that she had signaled before merging from the right lane into the left lane of the highway. As she made her move, she says she noticed a motorcycle approaching her at a high rate of speed, so she tried to move her car into the median to avoid a collision. However, she was not quick enough and the back of her vehicle was struck by the motorcyclist.

Authorities say the operator of the motorcycle, Christopher Figg, 38, of Franklin, was taken to the hospital suffering from severe bleeding and serious injuries to several parts of his body. The sheriff’s office says Figg was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
