NORTH VERNON, Ind.–A Jennings County man is in custody after an eight-hour standoff last Thursday. Sgt. Stephen Wheeles of the Indiana State Police says that officers responded to the residence at 2710 Coventry Gardens, in North Vernon, to serve two domestic battery warrants on 34-year-old Jonathan Snyder, along with a third warrant for parole violation.

When state troopers arrived, they determined that Snyder was inside. When they asked him to come out, he supposedly did not comply, so a search warrant for the residence was obtained. However, when officers attempted to enter the home, they say that Snyder had barricaded all the doors from the inside. After eight hours, law enforcement decided to force their way into the residence, where they say they found the suspect hiding in the attic.

Snyder was arrested for the three previous warrants, and now faces an additional charge of resisting law enforcement.
