BURNEY, Ind. — Following a fatal off-road utility vehicle crash in Decatur County over the weekend, Indiana Conservation officers are urging riders to think safety.
The driver of the ATV, Alexander Veercamp, 22, of Greensburg, was killed in the crash. Around 11:50 p.m. Saturday, Veercamp and passenger, Jacob Ross, 24, were riding a Polaris RZR 1000 on County Road 850W, 3.5 miles south of Burney, when the vehicle failed to negotiate a 90-degree curve, drove off the right side of the road and overturned. Veercamp died at the scene, Ross was treated and released for his injuries.
Toxicology tests are being performed but will not be available for at least six weeks.
