EDINBURGH, Ind.–Indiana State Police investigators and the Bartholomew County Coroner’s Office are reviewing two separate Monday morning accidents, one of them fatal, involving the same local man. The incidents took place on southbound Interstate 65, south of the U.S. 31-Taylorsville/Edinburgh exit.

Authorities say a vehicle driven by Justin Mills, 27, of Columbus, veered off the highway near mile marker 74 and crashed into the cable barrier in the median. The driver left the car and walked across the interstate to a rest area that was close by. As Mills attempted to walk back across I-65 and return to his vehicle in the median, he was struck by a semi-truck.

Coroner Clayton Nolting said Mills died instantly of blunt force trauma.
