COLUMBUS, Ind.–Emergency personnel responded early Wednesday morning to a vehicle that had flipped over and become partially submerged in the Driftwood River. Lt. Matt Harris of the Columbus Police Department says the driver skidded off the highway on County Road 325, near Lowell Road.

Rescue crews had to slide down the river bank and force open one of the doors to rescue the vehicle’s sole occupant. Once extricated from the car, the driver was treated for hypothermia and minor injuries at Columbus Regional Health. No word was given as to how the accident occurred.
