COLUMBUS, Ind. – The quick thinking of employees at a Wal-Mart in Columbus may have prevented a fire from igniting Tuesday afternoon. Lt. Mike Wilson of the Columbus Fire Department said shoppers and employees at the east side Wal-Mart at 735 Whitfield Dr., noticed smoke coming from one of the refrigerated meat counters and immediately called 911 just after 1 p.m. An investigation determined that an electrical short was the cause of the smoke.
