GREENWOOD, Ind.–A Greenwood woman was called by a phone scam artist on Tuesday and told that she had two active warrants for her arrest. The would-be victim, obviously knowing that this was not true, immediately contacted law enforcement. The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office says it was yet another fraud attempt and wanted the public to be aware of the situation. In this instance, the scammer requested $500 from the woman in order for each warrant to be resolved.

If you have been targeted, call the sheriff’s tip line at 317-346-4654. Whether you fell for the fraud or not, officers need as much information about the suspects as possible in order to help others from being victimized.
