Salem man arrested for OWI, theft

COLUMBUS, Ind.–Bartholomew County Sheriff’s deputies recovered a stolen vehicle during a traffic stop Tuesday night on Interstate 65. Authorities at the sheriff’s office say they received a call informing them of a possible drunk driver on the freeway.

Officers located the car and Christopher Jackey, 35, of Salem, was pulled over and eventually arrested for operating while intoxicated. After a routine check, it was determined that the vehicle did not belong to the driver and had been reported stolen in Fort Wayne. A theft charge was added to Jackey’s OWI charge. A passenger in the car, Cody Slaughter, 25, of Michigan City, also faces a stolen vehicle charge.

Both men were transported to the Bartholomew County Jail.
