SEYMOUR, Ind.—The Seymour City Council voted Monday night to pass two ordinances on second reading that will permanently close two railroad crossings of the Louisville and Indiana railroad located at South Street and at Seventh Street. Motorists can expect detours and closures to begin within the next few weeks.
City Engineer Nathan Frye says that these closures are part of an agreement to construct two new crossings, including an overpass to be built south of town near County Road 340N as part of the Burkhart Bypass project. Frye says construction on the new project should begin in early 2020.
