JOHNSON COUNTY, Ind.–For the third consecutive day, the Johnson County Sheriff’s office was notified by Greenwood area residents about scam attempts. Sheriff Doug Cox says it is important for these stories to be known so that his office can help prevent others from being targeted. He says that many victims or would-be victims are too embarrassed to come forward with the information. However, when the incidents are reported to his office, the sheriff notes that those targeted by scammers want to keep the same thing from happening to other individuals.

Two of the latest incidents of fraud reported to the sheriff’s office on Wednesday involved calls regarding Medicare and the IRS. Fortunately, neither victim gave out personal information or lost money in the attempts.

Sheriff Cox would appreciate being contacted if you have been the target of a scam. Call the tip line at 317-346-4654.
