Two busted for drugs, one for domestic battery

COLUMBUS, Ind.–A Columbus man was arrested after a domestic disturbance on Wednesday. The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office says they responded to a home on County Road 330W where Brian Hoover, 43, had allegedly beaten a female at the residence.

Deputies say that when they confronted him, a struggle ensued and the suspect threatened officers with a firearm and spat on them. Hoover was eventually subdued, transported to Bartholomew County Jail, and charged with domestic battery, strangulation, battery with bodily waste to law enforcement, resisting law enforcement, intimidation, and criminal confinement.

In another incident, a sheriff’s deputy stopped a car early Thursday morning after witnessing it cross the center line of County Road 50W multiple times. During a search of the vehicle, officers say they found drug paraphernalia, cocaine, methamphetamine, marijuana, controlled substances, and additional paraphernalia.

The driver, Damian Brown, 23, of Edinburgh, and his passenger, Lawrence Turnbloom, 23, of Edinburgh, were arrested and charged with possession of cannabis and cocaine. Additionally, Brown will answer for operating a vehicle while intoxicated and possession of paraphernalia. Turnbloom also faces charges for possession of a controlled substance and methamphetamine.
