COLUMBUS, Ind.–(UPDATED) Special Dogs & More has now launched a crowdfunding campaign as it tries to move the restaurant to downtown Columbus. The effort is being hosted on the Fundable website and several tiers of incentives are offered based on donation amounts. For more information, go to: https://www.fundable.com/special-dogs-more. The original story, which explains more about Special Dogs & More and how it operates, is below.
(ORIGINAL) Because of the dwindling number of retail businesses at their current location in Fair Oaks Mall, the owners of Special Dogs & More are wanting to relocate and are hoping the community will assist them in their quest. According to the restaurant’s Facebook page, they have already raised $50,000 for purchasing the storefront at 217 Washington Street, in downtown Columbus, across from the Bartholomew County Courthouse. In order to secure it and make the necessary build-out, the business needs to raise a total of $100,000.
The eatery, which helps mentally and intellectually challenged individuals gain employment, is starting a crowdfunding campaign soon in order to earn the other half of their renovation fund. If the money is not earned within 45 days, the business loses the storefront and the original $50,000 in pledges.
If the space is acquired, it will allow Special Dogs & More to expand their internship program with the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation.
