BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind.–Morning traffic in both directions on Interstate 65 was delayed for a short period of time on Tuesday, due to a single-vehicle injury accident. The mishap occurred around 9:30 a.m., in the northbound lane near mile marker 58, when a box truck driven by Chue Xiong, 55, of Claremont, North Carolina, allegedly ran off the right side road.

Xiong had apparently overcorrected, causing the vehicle to roll over into the median, spilling its contents of cut bamboo shoots. The Bartholomew County Health Department determined the product could not be salvaged and would need to be destroyed.

A juvenile passenger, believed to be Xiong’s 15-year-old nephew, sustained serious injuries in the crash and had to be flown from the scene to Riley Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis. The investigation is ongoing.
