Thefts continue, sheriff’s progress thwarted

FRANKLIN, Ind.–Authorities seem to have taken one step forward and five steps back in their attempts to stop a rash of recent vehicle-related thefts. Last week, the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office interviewed a suspect in the crimes and ultimately ascertained that multiple groups are likely behind the wave in the Greenwood area.

Seven new robbery reports were made to law enforcement Friday morning from the Carefree North addition. In many of these incidents, the suspects are breaking into unlocked vehicles. One instance told of a man who had two handguns stolen from two separate vehicles in his driveway.
