GREENWOOD, Ind.–Unlocked vehicles at two separate homes turned out to be easy targets for burglars early Friday morning in White River Township in Greenwood. In one theft, the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department says a man discovered that two debit cards were missing from the wallet he left in his truck parked outside his house overnight. Later, a check of his online bank statement revealed the cards had been used for over $500 in purchases at Auto Zone, Kroger, and Redbox.
In the second instance, a garage door was left open and a woman’s car that was parked inside was robbed. A purse with several credit and debit cards was stolen, along with her son’s Social Security card. Her online banking account showed a declined purchase at an Indianapolis Kroger store for $480.
