BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind.–A local woman was arrested for carrying a handgun without a license early Sunday morning, but that turned out to be the least of her worries. The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department says a deputy noticed Chastity Williams, 33, of Edinburgh, commit a traffic violation on U.S. 31 and pulled her over.
The discovery of Williams operating the car with a suspended driver’s license necessitated backup in the form of another deputy and his K9 officer, Bolt. The police dog conducted a free-sniff search of Williams’s vehicle and allegedly got a hit for contraband. The officers searched the car and say they discovered a loaded handgun, methamphetamine, and paraphernalia inside.
Williams was taken into custody and transported to Bartholomew County Jail. She was booked for carrying a handgun without a license, along with possession charges for both meth and paraphernalia.
