COLUMBUS, Ind . — A Columbus woman escaped a kitchen fire on Saturday.
Around 12 p.m., firefighters responded to a report of a structure fire in the 700 block of Glendale Drive and found flames coming from the kitchen windows.
The resident said she started the oven and left the kitchen before returning to find it still warming. She left the kitchen area the second time and returned later to find flames coming from the oven.
The woman escaped sustaining minor injuries from falling debris. Firefighters have ruled the fire accidental and estimate damages at $45,000.
