AMITY, Ind. — The Amity Volunteer Fire Department has raised money to install a weather emergency siren for the area.
Johnson County Commissioners are now considering a request to purchase and install several additional warning sirens to alert residents who live between Franklin and Edinburgh of tornadoes and storm.
“We feel here at the fire department that our protection for the community goes further than just being here when someone calls 911, said Amity Fire chief Jackie Brockman. “If we can get sirens in the air, then we can protect lives and property.”
The first siren is scheduled to be installed this month.
